The Ergonomic Work Position & Tech Neck
One of the most common culprits is the ergonomic work position, or how you’re sitting all day long, how you’re holding yourself. So we’re going to demonstrate that today and this is how your spine should look when you are looking at it from the side. So as Heidi is standing here, you can see that she’s facing that way, we have a curve in the neck that should be there. A lot of ergonomic positions involve sitting. So we’re going to demonstrate what that would look like at work. Go ahead and look down at the computer screen and then what that does to this curve in the neck is it simply flattens it and it can actually reverse it. Now you throw on another layer to this and they have double-whammy which is the cell phone and we call that “tech neck”. So all technology, including texting and looking down and then the shoulders roll like these kids do. And you can see really how much pressure comes to that spine and then what happens is the muscles around the spine that lead up into the head they get tight, and they’ll start to cause tension to the nerves. On top of that the vertebra will shift and rotate and that is called a subluxation.
If you relieve the tension in the spine by addressing the subluxation and correcting the work position, you’ve got a one-two punch to knock those headaches out.
